BandSorb® – Effective Protection Against Electromagnetic Interference

What Are Absorbers?

Absorbers reduce microwave reflections and suppress unwanted radiation by converting electromagnetic energy into heat within the material.
They are particularly useful in situations where traditional shielding or grounding is insufficient, for example, at high frequencies, where even small gaps in shielding can allow radiation to leak through.

BandSorb®

Modern electronic devices operate at hundreds of megahertz, with interference frequencies extending well into the gigahertz range. Highly integrated electronic systems can create complex RF issues that simple shielding and grounding can no longer eliminate.

Schlegel Electronic Materials (SEM) has developed the BandSorb® series, designed to attenuate unwanted signals across a wide frequency range of 1 MHz – 40 GHz. These materials can be easily integrated into compact assemblies, and SEM offers multiple configurations for applications, including customized solutions to meet specific design needs.

BandSorb® Material Options

BandSorb absorbers are available as silicone rubber elastomers or dielectric foam materials:

  • SC: Flexible, electrically insulating silicone rubber containing magnetic fillers with a high loss factor.
  • UC: Flexible, electrically insulating polyurethane rubber – a non-silicone alternative with a high loss factor.
  • ST: Resonant absorber with reflection ≤ –20 dB.
  • SN: Ultra-thin EMI/RF absorber with high magnetic permeability.
  • HP: Ferrite sheet for NFC and wireless charging applications.
  • FB: Lightweight, carbon-loaded dielectric foam – a cost-effective alternative for thinner structures.

The BandSorb® series provides an effective, versatile, and cost-efficient way to control electromagnetic interference in modern electronic systems – from the MHz range up to millimeter waves.
