O-rings

Conductive O-rings provide an effective solution for EMC, EMI and RF shielding in applications that require both electromagnetic protection and environmental sealing. They are particularly well suited for electronics, telecommunications, defense, aerospace and industrial applications.

Amitronic offers conductive O-rings, available custom-manufactured and either as molded parts or fabricated from conductive elastomer profiles cut to length. Moulding is the preferred manufacturing method when a small cross-section and/or a small inside diameter is required, as it provides seamless construction and excellent dimensional accuracy. For profile-based O-rings, the ends are volcanized together using the same conductive base compound as the O-ring itself. This ensures uniform electrical conductivity, material compatibility and high shielding effectiveness around the entire circumference of the seal.

Moulded O-Rings

  • Ideal for small cross-sections and very small inside diameters.
  • Seamless construction with no joints.
  • Suitable for applications where the seal is subjected to shear forces or high mechanical loads during compression.
  • Uniform material properties and excellent mechanical durability.

Vulcanized O-Rings

  • Cost-effective solution for large diameters and custom dimensions.
  • Available in virtually unlimited diameters by using conductive elastomer profiles cut to length.
  • The vulcanized joint is made using the same conductive elastomer compound as the O-ring, ensuring consistent electrical, mechanical and environmental sealing properties.
  • Short lead times, even for custom sizes and small production batches.

Conductive elastomer O-rings are available in a range of materials, including silver-plated copper, silver-plated aluminum and nickel-coated graphite filled silicone and fluorosilicone compounds, allowing the seal to be optimized for EMC, environmental and corrosion-resistance requirements.
